Creating Collections

Collection are created by adding topics in a tree structure, in which the first level under the root node becomes the top level or home page of the collection.

Creating a collection
- From the File menu, select New Collection
or Click the New Collection button in the toolbar; - Select the folder where you want to save your collection;
- Fill the new collection form and click Ok;
- Type the navigation title of the home topic in the treeview and press Enter.
The navigation title is copied as the topic title.
All collections are created by copying the default collection.
You can open the default collection for editing through the main menu. This allows you to build a more comprehensive template which all your future collections will use as a starting point.
To edit the default collection: Select Tools>Customize>Edit Default Collection from the drop down menus. All changes you make to this collection will be copied to every new collection you create.
Opening an existing collection
- From the File menu, select "Open Collection";
- Select the appropriate collection.
The collection is opened and ready for editing. Tópico collections typically have the .topico file extension.
Creating new topic templates
Topics are created by copying a topic template. You can edit the default topic (topic.xml) and create new topic templates of your own. All topic templates are saved in the collection's root folder and their file name must start with "topic". Learn more about creating custom topic template in this tutorial.
