Update the Editing Stylesheet
THESE PAGES ARE STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND DO NOT NECESSARELY REFLECT THE CURRENT VERSION OF TÓPICO
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to differentiate the publishing and preview stylesheets. The publishing stylesheet is used by the final publication (web site or CD-ROM) while the preview stylesheet is used in the XStandard editor. This way, you can customize the preview stylesheet to adjust certain styles inside the editor.
All the changes you made in the previous tutorials were made to the publishing stylesheet.
Update the preview stylesheet
To update the preview (or editing) stylesheet:
- Save and close the stylesheet if it's still open;
- Make sure the Topic tab is selected;
- Click the small button beside the stylesheets drop down list;
- From the drop down menu, select Update editing stylesheet.
The above steps are necessary to copy the modifications you made in the publishing stylesheet to the preview stylesheet used by the editor.
While the editor WYSIWYG view looks ok, turning the preview on centers all the body paragraphs, because this is what the publishing template says. You'll now fix the centered preview layout glitch.
Tweak the preview stylesheet
To tweak the editing preview stylesheet, follow these steps:
- Click the small button beside the stylesheets drop down list;
- Select styles_preview.css from the drop down list;
- Open the stylesheet file;
- Locate the body selector and remove the text-align:center; property from the end of this line;
- Save the file;
- Click the small button beside the stylesheets drop down list;
- From the popup menu, select ;
- Click the preview button to check the aligment.
As long as you don't select another publishing stylesheet with a centered layout, the editing stylesheet and the editor preview will remain left aligned.
